Medical scrubs are a protective garment designed to be worn by medical professionals. The garment was originally a gown, but the new scrubs now include the shirt and pants worn by just about everyone in and around the medical field. Wearing medical scrubs and uniforms go way beyond surgery in almost all hospitals and clinics anymore; it is more of a fashion statement and a label of your profession. The new medical scrubs and uniforms of today, that consist of a short sleeved shirt and pants with a draw string or elastic band are all known as scrubs. Almost all medical personnel wear some form of scrub uniform while on duty, from the doctors and surgeons, all the way to cafeteria and house keeping. These uniforms come in a wide variety of colors, patterns, and prints. They even have scrubs that feature cartoon characters and cheerful prints that are very common in pediatrician’s offices and on children's wards in hospitals. To the more modern medical personnel, the change to more comfortable uniform and pantsuits were a very welcome change. The new, modern outfits provided medical professionals with everything, functionality easy-to-care-for fabric, comfort, freedom of movement, and ones with pockets, give you a place to help carry your equipment. Over the years, in fact, colorfull scrubs have emerged as the overall favorite among the medical staff. Once the door was open, a number of other uniform options occurred. Slowly, shirts of all shapes, colors and patterns have become the norm in the medical field. Prints became commonplace, so as not everyone would look the same, and with the wide variety of fabric choices. Bright colorful scrub uniforms are now very popular among many medical workers. They see them as a means of brightening the patient moods. There are also seasonal scrubs and uniforms. Medical workers can now dress up for almost any seasonal event. There is Halloween, Thanksgiving, Fourth of July, Christmas, and many other medical scrubs available. The medical scrubs of tomorrow may have even more advances in style’s and comfort. But today's scrubs are easy to care for, comfortable, relaxing, cheerful and colorful. Soon, with the ease of buying these various uniforms, we may no longer envision the medical staff in plain white medical scrubs anymore.
